About the Gateway

This web-based tool brings together key health and human services data and statistics. It is designed to complement other government resources such as FirstGov and FedStats. The Gateway covers federal, state and local government sponsored information.
The Shortcuts feature of the Gateway lists, and links to, major health and human services surveys and data systems sponsored by Federal agencies.
Datafinder is a special feature of this website. It leads to web locations which contain statistics and data. You can use the categories provided to find topics of interest, or search using your own words. Other approaches include searching by an organization or survey name.
The MetaDirectory is a comprehensive list and description of the statistical and surveillance systems supported by HHS agencies.
The HHS Policy Information Center contains a database of citations and abstracts (some with full text) for government-sponsored research and evaluation reports on topics such as welfare reform, food safety, and homelessness.
Scientific Literature links to CRISP and to PubMed. CRISP is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. PubMed provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals, and includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.
